The association has been in existence for over 40 years now and its members are owners of apartments and chalets, many of whom have helped contribute to the development of Val d’Isere, and who want to stay in touch and be heard. read more...

Was it Batman that used to say “Holy Moly”? Well even if it wasn’t that’s the only way to describe the amount of snow that’s fallen across the Alps this weekend! It’s incredible! Many of you will have already received our Dump Alert this morning, letting you know that the snow has been falling pretty constantly for the last three days. I cleared nearly 2 feet of snow from my car this weekend after just a few hours of snowfall, and if the ploughs hadn’t been clearing like crazy, we would have knee deep powder in town! read more...

The Malpasset Gorges in Val d’Isere isn’t called that for nothing. In French, it’s a play on words with ‘mal passé’ loosely meaning ‘to not go well’. A group of no less than 26 skiers found this out to their cost on Tuesday, when they tried to ski the off-piste area from the Col Pers. read more...

Arkema and Scarpa’s research and development teams have been working closely together to design and develop a more ecological boot which they’ve named the Scarpa Hurricane. For the first time, the shell, strap band and tongue of the new boot use Pebax Rnew, a high-tech thermoplastic elastomer derived from over 80% renewable raw materials. Italian sports equipment manufacturer Scarpa, which specializes in top-of-the-range skiing, mountaineering and rock-climbing boots, wants to show that it is possible to take environmental issues into account and still fulfil performance requirements. Processed for the most part from a vegetable oil, Pebax Rnew offers the same properties as traditional Pebax, both being high-tech polymers. read more...
