29th December 2017 UPDATE: It's just starting to snow and is forecast to snow for the next 36 hours. The avalanche risk has already been bumped up to 4/5 for Saturday!
Val d'Isere received a dusting of snow, but neighbouring and lift-connected Tignes appears to have received somewhat more.
Weather in the mountains can be difficult to predict and the extreme geography can affect weather patterns very locally. So while we know it snowed upwards of 30cm on the slopes in Tignes, Val d'Isere has been comparatively dry. Seeing as the skiing is connected you are likely to find nice soft snow if you head over to Tignes.
However the forecast is for heavy snow on Friday and Saturday in Val d'Isere with up to 80cm fall across the resort. Unsettled weather will continue into the first week of 2018 bring with it snow but also fluctuating temperatures, and shall we say 'dramatic' conditions.
