Val d'Isere to get a mini makeover
New projects planned for ski area and village
Val d'Isere is planning ahead at the moment and it looks like there are changes afoot for both the village and the ski area.
Last week the council met with the STVI (ski lift company) to negotiate investments for future winter seasons. A number of projects totalling a cost of around 51 million euros are on the cards, including the replacement of the Solaise Express with a new cable car.
On a smaller scale, the residents of Laisinant and Fornet met at the weekend with local councillors to discuss traffic circulation and local improvements.
The central square in Le Fornet is to be renovated and will have a new "bachal" - a stone basin with water fountain. There are also plans for a covered car park of 40 places and the possibility of one-way traffic has been raised but is apparently not popular with residents.
Residents of Laisinant have put forward the request that their village become pedestrianised during the winter.
A further meeting was held yesterday to discuss the possibility of a children's village for the area of Rond Point des Pistes and Le Joseray.
A field meeting has been scheduled for the 2nd September when council officials will decide on the scale of the projects to be carried out.
