The 2014 X-Games in Tignes will not happen as ESPN announced yesterday that they are scaling back the X-Games franchise and concentrating on events in the USA.

In a statement ESPN said "We are proud to have run world-class competitions for both the athletes and spectators; however the overall economics of these events do not provide a sustainable future path,"

The domestic games in Los Angeles and Texas will still go ahead but ESPN has made a dramatic U-turn since last year when the X-Games was announced to be spreading to Brazil, Spain and Germany.

Since X-Games Europe began in Tignes in 2011 it has been the highlight of the extreme sports calendar for many people in Europe but unfortunately that run has come to and end.

It is unclear at the moment whether X-Games will return to Europe in the future or if anything can take it's place.
