Small, charming 2-star hotel situated in the heart of Val d’Isere, just 3 minutes from the foot of the slopes. A combination of exposed beams, antique furnishings, polished wood and the care and attention of the proprietor, Mme Isabelle Marie, has made this hotel a firm favourite with guests, many of whom return year after year.

The hotel has 18 traditionally-styled rooms across five floors (no lift), all of which have cable television, telephone and either bath or shower en-suite facilities.

Operating on a bed and breakfast basis, guests can start the day with a substantial buffet breakfast served in the hotel lounge or in your room if preferred. After a hard day on the slopes, you can relax and enjoy a drink in the hotel's bar with complimentary snacks. Although the hotel does not have its own restaurant, there are several dining options in close proximity.

It is located just 200m from the base of the Solaise and Bellevarde Express lifts and the ski school meeting point. The free ski bus stops 20m away from the hotel and there is also covered parking available.

Given the popular appeal and small size of the hotel last minute weekend and peak season dates are rare - we recommend you book well in advance.

Visitor comments

  • " rating: this is a very good place to stay in Val d'Isere. The location in the heart of Val is perfect: the central ski lifts are a short stroll away, as are the free shuttle buses to outlying lifts such as La Daille and Fornet; there are dozens of places to eat in the immediate area; and all of the town's services are on the doorstep. Rooms are very comfortable, clean and well maintained. Satellite TV offers a few English channels, and the showers (often a weakness in French hotels) are hot and powerful. The continental breakfast is very good. Choice is obviously slightly restricted by the hotel's size, but the quality of everything we ate was very high." - Trip Advisor
  • "Le Kern is a lovely little French hotel. Everything you need in an excellent central location. Spotlessly clean, lovely buffet breakfast and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back and recommend to friends. Thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome." - Trip Advisor
  • "January 16 stayed with my wife for a return visit. We have been 5 times now so that shows how much we enjoy this little hotel in a great central location, near the slopes. The staff were kind and helpful as always, great continental breakfast and nice clean rooms." - Trip Advisor
