Cyclists and touring holidaymakers are going to have to wait a little longer to get access to some of the mountain cols around Val d'Isere.

In some places above 2000m the snow depths are still believed to be around 8 metres, which means that they won't be opening until at least the end of this month, maybe into the second week of June.

Le Cormet de Roselend (1968m) is expected to open around the 21st May, with the Petit-St Bernard and the Col de la Madeleine opening a week after that. The Col d'Iseran is expected to open around the 10th June.

Keep an eye on the weather though, as there may be more snow coming this way tonight and over the next few days above 2200m.
