Around midday yesterday a Corsican snowboarder sadly died in the Manchet valley in an off piste area.

The man, who was staying in Tignes, appears to have lost control and was launched ten metres into the air before coming to rest near the river at the bottom of the valley.

He was with friends who called the emergency services, however he is though to have suffered a heart attack as a result of the accident and rescuers were unable to revive him.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
