iSki Val was formed in 2012 by a small group of experienced and dedicated ski instructors who wanted to re-kindle the 'club' atmosphere of teaching snow-sports.
The school mainly specialise in off-piste lessons and groups, however they also offer on-piste lessons for skiing, snowboarding and telemarking.
Off Piste is iSki's main focus. You can join in daily off piste group lessons, or book privately. Whether you want to try off piste skiing, improve your technique or have a go at ski touring, iSki has instructors and guides available to help. Depending on conditions, you can also ski in other nearby resorts such as Sainte Foy, Les Arcs/La Plagne and La Rosiere/La Thuile (worth it just for the pasta!).
Piste lessons and guiding sessions are all offered on a private basis for adults and children alike. They’ll take up to six people in a group of family and/or friends which keeps things comfortable for everyone.
They can cater for all levels of skier, from the complete beginner to the accomplished, even expert skier wanting to refine his or her technique. Taking a private guide is also a fantastic way to discover the vast area of the Espace Killy, making sure that you get the most out of your skiing with none of the stress of being in a resort you may not know.
iSki offer either 3-4 hour sessions in the morning which really enables them to optimise your time on the slopes, mixing up technical coaching (for those who want it) with skiing for fun. If you’re looking for purely technical content, you might want to consider their shorter afternoon sessions. You can also go for full days, with the option of skiing in other resorts such as La Rosiere/La Thuile, (worth it for the great Italian food at lunchtime!) or La Plagne, Les Arcs etc.
Prices start from €170 for a 2.5 hour afternoon lesson of either skiing or snowboarding.
This ski school also offer Telemarking lessons! Why learn to telemark? It feels very different from skiing or snowboarding. The movements are elegant, the sensations are new (and of course you’ll impress the hell out of all your mates down the pub!). You can telemark anywhere you can ski, and on any type of ski depending on what you want to do: piste, off-piste, ski touring, moguls, carving, slalom… there are no limits other than those imposed on you by your thighs!
The defining characteristic of telemark skiing is the “free heel” binding which leads to the elegant genuflected turns of the telemark skier. If you are a good skier, two afternoons of instruction will suffice for you to start having some fun on green and blue pistes. If you are a complete beginner, the progression will be at the same rate as if you were learning to ski.
