Well, what a fantastic weekend that was! It was cold but sunny on Friday and Saturday and I took advantage of the brilliant sunshine and took my team for a couple of lovely ‘skins’.
On Friday, we walked up to the Glacier Pers at the Fornet and we rewarded with some stunning snow and no one else around. We needed to dress warmly because it’s all north facing and when it’s cold, it’s even colder in the shade! Saturday was one of my best days of the season and quite special because I had my wife and daughters Millie and Katie along, it’s the first time they’ve all skied in my group at the same time. It was also the first time that 12-year-old Katie had ever ‘skinned’ before so I had planned a pretty easy outing, but because conditions were just right I changed my mind and we did a much more challenging ‘double-skin’ to the Col du Montet!
The Col du Montet is scenically stunning and we were rewarded with fabulous snow top-to-bottom and a couple of wildlife sightings. It was a very memorable first time out for Katie and we thoroughly enjoyed watching her in action. I also had Jean with me who is 76 years old and it was a huge achievement for him as well.
